Wednesday

Banning the Fireworks

We all might melt this weekend.
It has been weeks since we have had rain.
Maybe some of those 20% chances will land on us next week, but hopefully not enough to cancel our fourth of July plans with our friends next Wednesday.
Rumors in our county are that the fireworks will be banned this year.  The grass here is fried to a crisp.

Sunday

Heat Wave

Is it just me or has the last few days been so hot that it takes your breath to walk outside?  We attended a wedding yesterday and thought we were going to scorch while we waited for the bride and groom to come out of the church. The wedding reception had some cool decorations that all us ladies were checking out. Stroker and I took our usual wedding gift basket. It was 9pm before we got home last night.
Friday, we gave our annual one hundred dollar donation to Saint Jude, attended Paradise's 6th birthday party at Mildred's and Darlene and Gary visited for a little while.

Today was another scorcher. After church, we visited mom for a couple of hours, then came home to rest. Stroker cooked burgers on the grill tonight, but it was so hot outside that he waited till 8:00 to grill them. We sat out on the patio for dinner and had watermelon for dessert.
All in all, I would call it a great weekend.
Thank you Jesus.

Thursday

Well Done

My intentions this week have been to cook a home cooked meal, but what can I say...I failed!
Usually, when we go out to dinner and Stroker orders a steak "well done", it arrives at our table "medium well". He then sends it back to the kitchen and they finish cooking it. I don't know if it is just our lucky week this week or what, but Stroker has received two fully cooked steaks in the last two nights. Logan's last night and O'Charley's tonight. Maybe we are on a lucky streak.
Dinner is getting kinda lonely with Brooke not with us. She insisted on spending one more night with her aunt Darlene. Tomorrow evening is Paradise's birthday party, so Brooke will have to come home for that.
We have a wedding to attend on Saturday in Celina.
That is happy ending to the week.
Dr. Nash and I attended a funeral on Monday.

Wednesday

What a Long Day

This day of the year has always depressed me.  I should celebrate the day, but the thought of the days getting shorter and shorter beginning tomorrow bums me out.
I love summer. I love sitting on the patio in the evenings, I love the smell of water from the hose, I love flip flops and painted toenails. Most of all, I love that sun makes its presence known till after 8:30 each evening.

Tuesday

She's Gone Again

Once again, Brookelynn has packed her bags and left for another sleep over. This time, it is at her aunt Darlene's house.  That Brookelynn is quite the rambler. She told us the other night that she is making up for the all the times that she never spent the night away from us the first three years of her life.
Apparently she has had my phone taking pictures of herself again. I noticed this one today.

Saturday

Holiday World Daycation #3

Yesterday was a long day. Both Brooke and Devin had a friend sleep over Thursday night so we could get up bright and early yesterday to head to Indiana. All six of us loaded up the Titan and set out for another Holiday World adventure.
When we arrived, we set a place and a time for the boys to meet back up with us for lunch. 2pm at the "Monsoon Lagoon" and they showed up right on time. One downfall though...They were barefoot. They explained to us that their shoes had been stolen while they rode one of the water slides.
After lunch we all went to take another look and sure enough, the shoes were nowhere to be found. Also, by this time, carrying around our towels, the camera and money was getting tiresome. We explained to the boys that we would figure something out about their shoes later and told them to just go ahead and have fun.
We walked over to the locker rental area and rented a locker for our belongings. While I was there, I asked what we should do about the shoe situation and she said "are these the shoes?"  YES! Thank the Lord.
A park security guy had seen them and turned them into lost and found (I don't know why). We put their shoes in our locker and continued to the water slides. A few minutes later, we ran back into Devin and Braden, made up a wild and crazy story about how we found some people wearing them, confronted them and made them hand'em over. We sent Devin and Braden on their way believing the whole story.
We later told them the truth by the way.
We stayed at the park till around 7:30 before heading home. I got a small amount of video before I put the camera away for the day. You can see the video HERE

Tuesday

Just the Two of Us

Today, I went for a microdermabrasion, "sandblasting" as I call it. My skin feels so much softer.
We were abandoned by both Devin and Brookelynn tonight.
I guess their friends must be more fun than 'ol mom and dad.
That's ok...I like sleep overs too.

Monday

One Weeks Worth

Summer is in full speed here at the Hayes House. I didn't realize that it had been a full week since my last post until just now. It feels more like it has just been a day or two.
I will attempt to remember a few of the happening around here since last Monday.
Tuesday, I had a hair appointment, and that was about all I accomplished that day.
Wednesday, I organized a few things around the house and went to Bible study.
Thursday, Brookelynn and I decided that we were both overdue for pedicures, so we went and took care of that. Brooke decided on purple and I decided on a teal color. Our toes are screaming summer now. Brookelynn loves the massage chairs at the nail shop. She can never leave them alone. She pushes buttons the entire time we are sitting there.
As we were leaving, Brooke said to me, "I can't understand what they are saying to me...all I heard was 'feel good?'".   She cracks me up.
Friday, we went to dinner and seen a number of our church congregation there. We seen one couple as we were going in, Stroker seen another lady on his way to wash his hands. Another group went through as we were seated and a couple stopped by out table on their way out, just as we sat down.
Funny how we all had the same craving for Cheddar's on Friday night.
Saturday, we stopped by the "Customer Appreciation Day" at the bank. Brookelynn and I visited a couple of stores to do a bit of browsing and shopping.
We sat out on the patio Saturday evening and enjoyed the nice summer breeze as we looked across the street and discussed the mess that they have made of Henry's old house.

Sunday afternoon, we drove to White County. We visited with my brother and then my other brother showed up. I asked mom if she wanted to ride to my sisters house with  us and she did. We hung out at Darlene's for about  an hour. We got back home around 5:30 and just rested around the house.
Today was Devin's annual physical at the doctors office. Turns out, he was due for three vaccinations that he was not thrilled about.
Brookelynn had me to make her appointment for her physical before we left. Devin can't even visit the doctor without Brookelynn wanting her share of shots too. LOL
My massage appointment was also today...and it was a wonderful escape from the mundane Monday.
Paradise came over to spend some time with her cousin Brooke. She went to dinner with us and then decided to spend the night.
And that's about a weeks worth of Hayes House Happenings.

Bags, Bags, Bags

So, the last couple of weeks have been quite busy here at the Hayes House.
No time for rest or relaxation. I probably have bags under my eyes.
From summer break at school, remodel work on two rooms, a beach getaway, our anniversary and life in general, we have been on the go more than ever.
Devin spent Saturday night at a friends house,
Brookelynn babysat Jett and Dash on Saturday at Stacia's house.
Stroker cleaned my car.
I received two new 31 bags to go with my "large tote".
We were invited to dinner at my mother-in-laws and it was good home cookin'.
We delivered Paradise's graduation gift bag while we were visiting Mildred.
That finishes off the last of our gift bag deliveries for graduation.
I got in a three and a half our nap on Sunday, which is something that I never do. I was so worn out from all the constant go go go here lately. It was close to midnight before I got into the bed every night last week. Tonight, Brookelynn decided to spend the night with her aunt Darlene.
So, what have you been up to so far this summer?

Saturday

Do You Know What Today Is?

It's our anniversary. (In the tune of Tony Toni Tone of course)
Did you notice the counter on the right side of my blog screen today? Allow me to point it out.

Nine Years ago today, I married the man that I could not live without.

I thank God every day for the people He has placed in my life.
Stroker is right at the top of my list.
We debated on a family trip to Holiday World to celebrate today, but a cold front moved through and the temperatures only reached the 70's. We sure didn't want to hit the water slides or wave pools with the temp. that low.  We opted to hold off for another week or two before making the trip.
Stroker and I celebrated our anniversary with a romantic dinner for two at Mauricios.
It is not a place that we eat often, but we sure enjoy it on special occasions.
So, here is to nine great years (thirteen if you count our courtship, but you can't officially count that).
Dear Stroker...
