Friday

Ending August...(The Sunday of Summer)

We had dinner at Sheer Delights (Jack's Top BBQ) on Friday evening since we were in Sparta anyway for a delivery. There was a storm that rolled through and it left a beautiful rainbow over by my mommas house
Brooke and Mary went to the football game.
We were stretched on Saturday, August 18, 2019 We had to go to Bon Air and Gainesboro. It is very rare these days that we travel that far.
In between stops, I worked on organizing the shop.
After church on Sunday, August 19, 2018, I went to daddy's.  He ended up taking us to the Huddle House for lunch.  Before I came home, I went by Kevin's because Tiffany was headed there and asked me to stop by.
I got mom's mattress sold on August 19, 2018. I met a guy around lunch so he could load it up.
We attended the CPC banquet Tuesday evening.   Doesn't feel like it's been a year already since the last one.
I had lunch with Maleigha Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Good 'Ol Sloppy Top again.   We ended Wednesday at church (of course)
My hunny washed, waxed and vacuumed my car on Thursday, August 23.
On Saturday, August 25, 2018, we not only had our rentals, but two of our employees were having a birthday party and Ansley was having a Sweet 16 party.  It was an eventful day.
We got our rentals out quickly and the guys took a nap on the way home. 😂
Georgi and Mary accompanied me and Brooke to Smyrna for Ansley's party.

We went to get new phones after church on Sunday, August 26. He and I both got the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9
It is a whole new ballgame learning an Android, but I do like a lot of its features and the camera is AMAZING😃
We are still trying to learn them, but we know we like them.

I had a hair appointment on Sunday too. I'm having to not only highlight, but add color every other appointment due to old age 😞  I will never be the kind of woman that accepts gray.  👵👩
I'm still young and somewhat energetic. That's why Monday, August 28, 2018 I pressure washed the patio.
Tuesday, August 28, 2018 was the day that Devin finally went to the doctor abut the tumor on his back. The doctor agreed that it should be removed.

Tuesday also was Mary's Sweet 16!   We arrived at Fuji ahead of time and set up the table.

Wednesday, August 29, 2018 was back to the routine. Church and dinner at Cracker Barrell.
I got no sleep on Thursday night, August 30, 2018. My upper middle back was killing me. I figured I must have twisted something while I was pressure washing, but why did it wait two days to start bothering me? 😫
I also moved my computer by the window on Thursday. Now I can enjoy work with a view. ☀🌳
The metal was delivered to install the new roof.

Friday, August 31, 2018 was an active day. It was Denette's farewell party at the Board of Education, we had a new roof installed at home, and we met up with great friends at the Dipsy Doodle for dinner.

These two were in the dark trying to read a dipstick tonight.

Thursday

Timber

We ordered a brand new unit on Monday, August 6, 2018. It's big, it's, tall, it's fun and it's....well, expensive. I'm looking forward to it's arrival, but not as much as one of our customers.  She said she would hold off her event until it arrived. How flattered we are that our customers would put their plans on hold to wait for our equipment instead of using another company. 😊
Tuesday, August 7, 2018 was National Night Out, which meant busy night out for us. There was a chance of rain in the evening, but it held off.

More storms were predicted for Wednesday afternoon, August 8, 2018, but they hit just as scheduled.   I went to a doctor appointment for pellets and then by the bank at noon and could see the squall line headed our way.  It looked similar to this...
I ran by the house and commented to Devin that a bad storm was about to hit. I told him that I was going to head back before it hit and I jumped in the car. I was just in front of the house when I noticed how badly the trees were bending from the force of the wind. I decided to turn around and wait the storm out at home.  Just as I got the car turned around, I heard the cracking of the tree breaking.  I looked up at the maple tree and watched the top fall out and land right on our house💥. I just knew there would be limbs hanging in our bedroom.
I called my husband on the way back into the house to tell him to get home.  As I walked in the back door, I noticed that things had fallen off shelves and the wall and were laying in the floor. That tree jarred the entire house.😲 As it hit, there was so much weight from branches hanging off the back of the house, that it pulled the tree back out of the roof and over the edge of the house into the back yard.
Thank God that the dogs were in the front when this happened. 🙌
There was a hole in our roof, it was raining in our attic, the fence and gate in the back yard were crushed and there was a huge tree laying up next to our house.

I called insurance immediately and they had the roof tarped within a couple of hours.
The electric department came by to cut the power lines that were laying on the ground.

We headed on over to church for Wednesday evening service and thanked the Lord that no one was in the path when the tree fell.
Thursday, August 9, 2018 was a little more relaxing. I went for a pedicure.
I took the day Friday, August 10, to stay home and clear my head from all the stress.  I did get out to go by the bank, but mostly the day was spent at home.
I took on the task of cleaning Devin's room on Saturday, August 11.  For the most part, it is clean because he is a minimalist.  I just wanted to get the dust off the furniture and sweep the floors.   We went to the fair Saturday night. It was the first time we have been to the fair in YEARS.  We ate at one of the booths and went to the grandstands to watch the Monster Trucks.  Afterwards, we looked around at the exhibits at the grand stands. You know...typical old people stuff.👴👵

My day for breakfast at church had rolled around again on Sunday, August 12, 2018. I took my usual items. After church, we had lunch at Olive Garden and then back to church for a baby shower for Brian and Christa Paramore.
I cooked dinner at home on Monday, August 13, 2018.
I ordered new cushions for the glider rocker. Mom had a couple of burn holes in hers so I pitched them.
A guy showed up Tuesday, August 14, 2018 to cut the tree that fell. I left the house at 7:30 and came back home at lunch. Somewhere between there, he had came, cut, chipped, cleaned up and left.  That's a rare find to get someone to work like that.  I am impressed.

We met with the insurance company on Wednesday, August 15 to go over all the damage from the tree.
We had a good class at church in the evening.
The cushions came in for the glider rocker on Thursday. August 16, so we delivered the two rockers to church to donate to the nursery.   Stroker put down mulch around the spruce trees. He worked on that until dark.

Monday

Hangin On to What We've Got

It was a busy day on Saturday, July 28, 2018. We had 9 units out plus tables, chairs, canopies etc. We got them delivered and got back home so that I could get some things done around the house. I'm trying to move things around to make room for the additional furniture that we have coming in.  I polished and cleaned the dresser and wiped it down with Old English furniture oil.  That bedroom furniture is sooo heavy. It was made to last. I have to admit, I kinda like having all the extra drawer and storage space.
After church on Sunday, we went back to moms and I loaded up two rocker gliders. When we got back to the shop, I wiped them both down and we cleaned 3 other units that were wet from Saturday.
I got moms dresser moved into the bedroom on Monday, July 30, 2018. It is a beast, but I love it. My hubby worked on the dryer because it is on the fritz. He took out the heating element and the thermostat to test them both tomorrow.
Tuesday, July 31, 2018 was the first day of school for the 2018-2019 school year. Brooke started the year by leaving her lights on all day. She called us to come boost it off at 3:00.  When we got there, we found it in the middle of the band formation. Apparently, her parking spot is right in the middle of where band practice takes place. So, we got that fixed and got back home where there dryer was waiting for its repair. He got it fixed with a new element and everything was back up and running. It is so handy to get free dryer elements. That has saved us a lot of money throughout the years.

I guess we ended July 2018 with everything working as it should.  Sometimes it is better to hang on to what we have. I would rather have the furniture from home that I grew up with, than to have something new from the store. I would rather have the dryer that I know, than a new one to learn  all the fancy settings. The older I get, the more I want to hang on to what I have. It feels better than acquiring new "stuff".

August arrived overnight and we began the first day of August with a rental. We had the exterminator come by the house and spray. We had Wednesday evening church class and discussed Ye of Little Faith.
We cleaned up moms yard on Thursday, August 2, 2018. My husband worked for three and a half hours weed eating while I trimmed the hedge and carried it off. We also loaded the back of the truck with junk to haul off.
Mom would have loved to seen her Cannas blooming

My country girl Brooke too the evening to go to the Rodeo at Hyder Burks. She is all about the country music and now it has grown to this.
I went for a massage on Friday, August 3, 2018. It was a new place that I tried out and the massage therapist did a great job. Brooke had to get a power nap in after school. That first week back got her like...
We ended the evening back down at Hurricane Marina with some friends to have dinner at the Blue Water Grille.
Brooke and I took the jeep to Dodson's Branch on Saturday, August 4, 2018 for a pick up. We had the top and the doors off. It was a great little drive. On the way back a 9 year old boy on a bicycle pulled us over with a muzzle loader and asked us if we wanted to buy bullets 😲😱
He said it was his grandpas gun and he had died. We politely passed on the offer and got the heck out of Jackson County.
While we were delivering, we ran across this cute couple.
We also got rid of a lot of landscape rock that we had given mom about 10 years ago. It was so scattered about, that we had forgot how much we really had.
My hunny bunny and I went jeepin' after church on Sunday, August 5, 2018.  We rode through 7 knobs, Dodson's Branch, Rickman, Livingston, and Monterey.  It was a beautiful day.
