Saturday

Enjoy the Ride

Last night, while we were at El Tapatio, Stroker got a text from Briana about a last minute cookout for  today to celebrate Libby's birthday. Five minutes later, Bucket sent us a similar text. We hoped to be there, but our schedule was pretty full for today. I had just mentioned to Brookelynn yesterday morning that Libby must be having a party some other weekend since we had not received an invitation for this weekend.
Today, around lunch time, Darlene, Gary and Trent stopped by our house as they were in route to Memphis. They asked Brookelynn to ride along and she decided to take them up on her offer.
By 3pm, Stroker and I had a little over an hour to spare, so we headed straight to Libby's. We brought in her gift, had some lunch and hung out for while. Time flew by and it didn't seem like long until it was time for us to go, but I am sure glad our schedule worked out to stop by. There are not many parties before these kids are all grown up. We would sure hate to miss one.
Brookelynn mentioned last year that she thought it would be her last party since she was turning "double digits". I have a feeling she might hang in there for a couple more parties. I sure hope so.
I am not sure that I am ready for my kids to grow up just yet.

Wednesday

Gas

Buying gas makes me want to puke. We have put $182 in our tanks so far this week. At least it has gone back DOWN to $3.67 per gallon.

Sunday

April Happenings

The last few days have been cold and dreary. It has felt more like fall weather here lately. We had to turn our heat back on tonight because of the temperature dropping into the thirty's.
The happenings for the past few days have been...
1. Stroker has been battling a cold for the past week. At this point, the cold is winning.
2. Taking Mom to the doctor.
3. The usual Wednesday evening with Brookelynn and three of her friends coming home from school with her.
4. Brookelynn recited the books of the old and new testament at church Wednesday evening.
5. Friday was "wear red" day at school, because they are "red"y for the TCAP tests next week. Brookelynn won in her class for wearing the most red.
6. I went to a womens retreat with the church and spent the night at the Holiday Inn Express (Didn't sleep much).
7. We drove to Moss.
8. Stroker and I had a quiet lunch together Saturday (just the two of us).
9. We received our certificates of baptism at church today.
10.We went to visit daddy for a while this evening.
11.Cletus is getting a bit better from whatever caused his sickness for the past week. His bark is a bit stronger and he is moving around a little faster.
12.I finally got around to painting the bathroom ceiling.
13. I decided to knit another scarf this weekend. It's finished.
That's about it...in a nutshell.

Monday

Silly Sock Day

This week is TCAP test preparation week at Brookelynn's school. Every day has a different theme to get the kids pumped up for TCAP tests next week. Today was "Silly Sock Day".
Brookelynn was upset that she didn't get the most votes for the silliest socks, but she sure got my vote.
Stroker had to work another long day today, so after I picked up the kids from school, I spent the afternoon putting more stuff in the shed. I will have it junked back up again by this weekend LOL. Everytime I get it organised and make more room, I find more stuff in the house to take to the shed. It's a never ending cycle.

Sunday

Back and Forth

We had a car load of girls as we headed to church last Wednesday night. Cassidy, Treasure, and Kelsey all came home with Brookelynn. Brookelynn had planned to recite the books of the Old and New Testament to her teacher Wednesday night, but turns out that she had a different teacher last week.
Cassidy came back home with Brookelynn after school on Thursday so she could ride to the Festival of Movement with us. We decided to have an early dinner at Cheddar's before heading to the big event.
Friday evening, Brookelynn came home asking if she could spend the night with Cassidy. We eventually agreed to let her go, even though she and Cassidy had been together every waking minute of the day since Wednesday.
With Brookelynn at a Friends house and Devin glued to the Predator's playoff game, it left me and Stroker to a dinner for two. It was really quiet at our table. Not bad for Friday the 13th huh?!
Saturday, Stroker went to pick Brookelynn up at Cassidy's house. When he arrived back home, Brookelynn and Cassidy both got out of the car. Cassidy had her overnight bag with her. Those two girls just couldn't get enough of each other last week. They were back and forth from each other's house.
I decided to do my quarterly shed organization on Saturday. I pulled everything out in the yard and had us looking like Sanford and Son for a couple of hours. Then I organised and placed everything neatly where it belonged. Now, you can open the shed door, actually walk into the shed without tripping over something and find what you are looking for. What a wonderful feeling.
We also made a visit to Dowelltown Saturday. Apparently, it wore the kids out.
Sunday, Cassidy went back home after church and Brookelynn and I headed to White County to visit my mom. Devin had another Predator's play off game to watch, so he stayed behind. Stroker took the day to rest since he had to work long days all week.
When we got to Sparta, Brookelynn, mom, and I went for a pic-nic at the park in town. Mike even decided to join us. We got a bucket of chicken and sat at the pic-nic table by Calf Killer River. We walked around and enjoyed the sunshine before heading back to moms house.
After Brookelynn and I got back home, Sterl came by for a visit and invited us to dinner. Our family joined him and Debi at El Tap at 6pm. We didn't get back home till after 8:00.

Tuesday

Washed by the Water

So, with the warm temperatures and the busy schedules, 10 days have came and gone at lightning speed. Over the past ten days, we have had  a special church service for Maundy Thursday, sleepovers, three egg hunts, Easter dinners, visited Gainesboro, Jamestown, Sparta, Algood, Baxter and Celina. I have had another check up with Dr. Brooksbank to check on the numbness in my teeth and chin. Still not back to normal yet.
Easter Sunday was especially wonderful this year. Not only did we celebrate Him and the sacrifice He made for us; this year, our family was baptised. It was awesome and emotional to feel the water cover me and to emerge new.
Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

We were blessed to have so many friends and family come to witness such a special event in our lives.
Daddy, Phyllis, Bucket, Jennifer, Briana, Christopher, Libby, Gary, Darlene, Delano, Stacia, Jett, Dash, Matt, Nan, Mildred, Paradise, Keith, Erin, Brandon, Ansley, and Keith McNealy from Stroker's work.

Sunday

Weekend Amnesia

What happened to the weekend?  I can't believe Monday is just 2 hours away.  I'm gonna have to sit back and think for a minute of what we did for the last two days....

Stroker just remembered that we went to El Tap Friday evening and went to Nan's to pick up a homemade Lemon Ice Box pie that she made for him. We made our dreaded Wal-Mart shopping trip before heading home Friday night.
I do recall plugging two tires on Saturday. Well, I didn't plug them, but Stroker and Bucket did. One on the truck and one on the trailer. We even stayed closed to home on Saturday. No traveling all over the Upper Cumberland.
Cassidy came over to spend the night with Brookelynn last night (Saturday night). She was presented a new pink Bible at church today for memorizing and reciting all the books of the Bible. Old and New Testament. Brookelynn has the Old Testament memorized, but hasn't quite mastered the New Testament yet.
I had a notion to bake cookies last night. Not the homemade kind of course, but I spooned them onto the pan from the container and baked them for 8-10 minutes. Chocolate chip with walnut. Yum-O as Rachel Ray would put it! Devin finished off the last of them this evening.
After church this morning, we went to lunch at Logan's before taking Cassidy back home. I spent a couple of hours at moms while Stroker seized his only opportunity to mow the yard this weekend.
That man is faithful to his lawn. He has stressed himself out all weekend about when to find time to mow. When I arrived home from moms, he reminded me that we need Triazide and Seven Dust. Last week it was grass seed. The week before that it was Turf Builder.
I'm not complaining that he works hard on the lawn and the house...a lot of women have men that would go all summer without mowing if their wives didn't make them.
Devin went to see the Passion play this evening. We visited Byrd and April and went to see Brookelynn and Justin's new house.
I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to a short week. Beginning Friday, we will give this thing we call "Weekend" another shot.
