Friends, Fun & Flashing Lights

We got the plasma TV installed on Mildred's wall today. She seems to be quite happy with it.
This evening we met up with Erin, Brandon & Ansley for our annual gift exchange.

We had dinner at Red Robin's then went into Nashville to see the Shadrack Christmas Display.
It was a neat little drive. You can view out video of highlights HERE.

Erin & Brandon also brought us Gigi's cupcakes...Yum-O as Rachel Ray would say.

Thursday

The Thursday Thaw

After the snow miser paid us a visit Sunday and Monday, we spent the last few days on defrost. Rain and a 37 degree heatwave came through last night & this morning to rinse the earth clean. This came just in time to create a 2 hour late school day and now the kids are on a two week Christmas break.
Brookelynn went to school and took part in her class Christmas party.  Since it was a "breakfast" Christmas party, we stopped by Chic-fil-a for a party tray of chicken minis. For those of you who have not experienced a chicken mini from Chic-fil-a, you need to make a point to stop by and try them. You will not be disappointed.
Anywho, Brookelynn's party was fun and the chicken minis were a hit.

If you have less than 2 minutes to spare, you can check out the party video HERE.

FYI....Naughty or Nice ?

For those of you that have not finished up your Christmas Shopping, here is some information to help you determine which retail stores that you might want to avoid during your final days of holiday shopping.
There is a "Naughty & Nice" List for retailers who will and will not recognise Christmas. I have posted an up-to-date list of the "Naughty" companies below. If they do not want to recognize or decorate for Christmas, why would I want to hand them my holiday cash?

Companies against "Christmas":
Banana Republic
Barnes & Noble
CVS Pharmacy
Foot Locker
Gap Stores
Hancock Fabrics
NASCAR
L.L. Bean
Office Depot
Radio Shack
Staples
SUPERVALU
Victoria's Secret

If you would like to view the list yourself, you can visit the website that compiles the list HERE

My Last Grandparent

My last grandparent, "Ma" as the grandchildren called her, passed away today.
1917 - 2010 was the length of time she spent in this world. It seems like a long time when you look at the date, but then when you think about  how quickly time passed, you find yourself reexamining your own life. "Am I accomplishing the things that I want to achieve in life?" "Am I making the most of every day?"
This is my grandmother sitting on her front porch, the way I will remember her most.

This photo was taken a decade ago, and through the passing years, time made her body weary.
Today was the day that she could no longer resist the  inevitable to let go of this life and move on.
Of course, I worry most about my daddy and the heartbreak that he feels from the loss of his mother.
What a good son she raised. He has cared for her, watched over her and done everything in his power to ensure all of her days were content and comfortable.

Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation.
For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life.

Almost Time for Santa

December Winter Wonderland

Woke up to 7 inches of snow this morning!
and it's still flurrying.
