Thursday

August Ends

We attended a banquet for the CPC on Tuesday, August 22, 2017.  Wednesday was church and Cracker Barrel again. We are creatures of habit in case you haven't noticed.
On Thursday, August 24, 2017, I talked Devin into letting me cut his hair. During the process, just as I was starting a new stroke with the clippers, I noticed the guard fell off. "Oh Crap" I mumbled as I jerked the clippers away from his head. It was too late...there was a gap.  Needless to say, he got up, did not speak a word and went to take a shower.
I felt horrible. Thank goodness it is hair and it will grow back in a couple of weeks.
We had dinner at the Rose Garden Friday night, August 25, 2017. Weather was okay for here now. Hurricane Harvey began impacting Miami and coming up the coast of Florida. This is supposed to be the worst hurricane in history to make US landfall. The rain won't arrive here for a couple more days.
We decided to make the most of the great weather that we are having and spend the day at Dollywood Saturday, August 26th. Apparently, everybody had that same idea. The park was crowded, but the rides were fun.
 Nope...not eatin' here ↓

See more of our Dollywood adventure HERE
We had dinner at Margaritaville because Dick's Last Resort was closed by the time we arrived. We spend the night in Gatlinburg Saturday night at the Marriott Courtyard
We got in bed late and got up early Sunday morning to head back home.
Hurricane Harvey rain set in Monday morning, August 28, 2017.  I also felt a little washed out to find out that my Lowe's card had been compromised.  I don't know how this happens to me. I purchased McAfee virus protection in case it is through my computer. I also cooked dinner at home Monday night.
I had a bad day on Tuesday, August 29th. I was missing mom real badly. It was one of those heartache all day kinda days. I do really well (I think) most of the time. I mean...I think of mom ALL day EVERY day, but I usually don't feel like I have to sit down and cry my eyes out. That was not the case Tuesday...it was a tough day for some reason.
I found out that there was also fraud on my JC Penny card and Ashley card on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 ðŸ˜¡  I am so frustrated. Turns out, Synchrony bank sent all new cards to some impostor in Homestead Florida for my accounts. 😲At least they don't hold me liable for their stupidity.
There is another hurricane on the horizon for the Miami Florida area (near Homestead). I hope it washes away the new Nike leggings that the lady bought from JC Penney on my card. 😣
I ended the month with a home cooked meal on Thurday, August 31.
Devin complained a little with his tumor.

Monday

Great American Eclipse

The media has talked about it for months, the astronomers have named this to be one of the best viewing sites and the Nation has counted down the days until today...The Great American Eclipse was today, Monday, August 21, 2017  We were in the path of Totality.
Everyone will agree, it was quite a show. Businesses closed early and schools were cancelled because this was the event of a lifetime. We watched it from home and had as good a seat as anybody.

Sunday

Mid Month Mundane

Sunday, August 13, 2017 was a great day because I actually had time to squeeze in a nap after church and lunch at Helen's Restaurant.
I also had a hair appointment at 4:30. 💇
Monday was an expensive day. I paid the car insurance and we had dinner at Craw Daddy's with Georgi and Mary.
Tuesday's are the days that our employees work, which happens to mean it is the day that I clean house.
Wednesdays are church days, which means it is also Cracker Barrel night.
Thursday, August 17, 2017 was a break from the monotony. I attended a women's conference at a church here in town where they hosted Jill Bricoe.

It was sooo good. What a focused lady she is. Often we lose sight of the real purpose. What a refreshing speech she gave.
We had dinner with my sister and brother-in-law Friday night at Shear Delights.
Afterwords, he took us on a tour of his new garage / workshop / apartment / whatever else with fit in there.
Heather, Brooke and I toured the Parade of Homes on Saturday, August 19th.
It took us all day, but there were some beautiful houses. We also stopped at a Amish store and shopped around.
After church on Sunday, we bought a generator. Who knows if we will every use it.

Saturday

August Begins

School has officially began for the 2017-18 sophomore year for Brooke.
Tuesday, August 1, 2017 was the first day.
There was a trade show for people in our line of business on Tuesday also.
We attended, networked with other companies, got some new product ideas, talked to a payroll company and had lunch at Rock Bottom.
On Wednesday, August 2nd, I had lunch with Dr. Nash.
We had church Wednesday evening

followed by the usual dinner at Cracker Barrel of course.
There was a beautiful rainbow in the sky Thursday, August 3rd.
We had dinner at the Farmhouse in Byrdstown on Friday, August 4, 2017.
The food was really good and it was buffet style.
Saturday involved several stops, one of them being the Whistle Stop in Baxter for  lunch. 😋
We also enjoyed a movie night Saturday night.
Sunday, August 6th was jam packed...
We went to church (Duh)
Had lunch at Olive Garden
Went by Kevin's for a visit
Went by Daddy's for a visit
He showed us his new cap
Went to visit Tiffany and meet baby Oakley. 👶
and made a quick stop by Maleigha's on the way back to Cookeville. 👋
Devin and Brooke had dentist appointments on Monday, August 8, 2017 🙊
I made a home cooked meal.
I had a dentist appoint on Tuesday, August 9 for my crowning ceremony. 👑
We finally decided to hire help and it was there first day on Tuesday.
It freed up my time to clean the house 😄 and that makes me happy.
Wednesday again...you know what that means.
Church and Cracker Barrel.
Oh yeah!...Matasia was on the front page of the paper this week for the horse show.
We don't go to the fair these days since the kids are older. I don't miss the fair days one bit.
We heard the bad news that Brooke's friend Mary's dad died on Thursday, August 10. 😢
We went to Mary and Georgi's and hung out with them for a while on Thursday night.
The guy that I hired to mow moms yard is still doing a good job. He mows every other Thursday. Every time that he texts me that he mowed, I always think of how mom would have loved her fresh manicured yard.
Oh how I miss my momma. I know exactly how Mary feels tonight.
I still have my daddy though, I'm not an orphan just yet.
Thank you God for that.
As a matter of fact, Daddy, Phyllis, Darlene and Gary came to dinner with us, the Paramore's and the Robert's Friday night at the Doodle.
We traveled to Baxter, Monterey and back  to Cookeville on Saturday, August 12, 2017 and finished the night with dinner at Anchor Down
